Gwen Paquin was born and grew up in Saskatchewan where she pursued a career in nursing.
Art has always been one of her major interests and after working in several provinces she returned to Saskatchewan where she obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Regina, with a focus on printmaking.
Upon retirement from nursing several years ago art became a major pursuit as a second career. She also moved to Nova Scotia to be near her family.
Gwen’s art features flowers, plants, and gardens, where her love of colour is celebrated mostly in watercolour. In Nova Scotia Gwen found a group of kindred spirited botanical artists and became a member of the Botanical Artists of Nova Scotia Association. She is also a member of the artist run gallery, Art 1274 Hollis in Halifax.
Gwen also paints in oils. Since moving to Nova Scotia her subject matter has expanded to landscape and seascape.
Her garden provides a plentiful supply of subjects and the province has endless vistas to explore as she pursues her painting. Her studio is located in Dartmouth, NS.
